Published during the Meiji era,Ā BijutsukaiĀ andĀ Shin BijutsukaiĀ are treasured collections featuring exquisite craft designs by various pattern designers, Japanese-style painters, and talented artisans whose names may have been lost to time. These beautifully crafted books showcase the art of multicolor woodblock printing and were published by Unsodo, a distinguished Kyoto-based art publisher and the only house in Japan dedicated to producing hand-printed woodblock books.
Hobonichi have created a mini letter set with designs fromĀ BijutsukaiĀ andĀ Shin Bijutsukai.
The letter paper comes in 12 sheets, with four of each design: the Blue Pigeons design matching the Weeks, colorful successive waves, and a checkered pattern with chrysanthemums and bamboo fences. The set includes six glassine envelopes that reveal a glimpse of the paperās patterns inside, and a sheet of stickers featuring six motifs drawn from the designs. This beautiful letter set would bring joy to both the letter writer and the recipient alike.
